“France Child Assault Suspect Apprehended in Liverpool”

A man accused of sexually assaulting a child in France has been apprehended in Liverpool, confirmed the National Crime Agency (NCA).

The individual, identified as 30-year-old Sri Lankan national Sujanth Ketheeswararasa, was captured by NCA’s National Extradition Unit officers in Liverpool city center following an investigation that led them to his location. Allegedly, Ketheeswararasa faces charges of assaulting a young girl in France and is sought after by the French authorities.

Clare Meehan, representing the NCA’s Joint International Crime Centre, emphasized the organization’s commitment to safeguarding children from sexual exploitation. She stated, “There is no higher priority for the NCA than ensuring children are protected from sexual abuse. Through collaboration with domestic and international partners, we successfully located and apprehended the suspect.”

Ketheeswararasa appeared in a London court on Thursday and has been detained in custody as extradition procedures are initiated. The 30-year-old is scheduled to virtually attend Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, November 27.

A comprehensive extradition hearing is scheduled for March 26, 2026.
