“Trump Sets Ultimatum for Zelensky on Peace Deal”

During a recent exchange with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, former President Donald Trump conveyed that Zelensky must embrace his peace proposal or continue confronting Russia, offering a stark response to Ukraine’s apprehensions.

When questioned by a reporter about Zelensky’s stance on the peace agreement aimed at resolving the conflict, Trump stated that Zelensky will need to accept the terms, suggesting that if he doesn’t, Ukraine should persist in its current approach. Trump emphasized the importance of eventually reaching an agreement, recalling a previous conversation where he indicated to Zelensky that he lacked leverage.

Trump has indicated that Zelensky has until next Thursday to endorse the 28-point peace plan, deeming it an acceptable deadline. However, Zelensky has expressed concerns that agreeing to the plan would compromise Ukraine’s autonomy, integrity, and justice.

The leaked details of the plan outline provisions such as Ukraine conceding territories in the eastern Donestsk region, downsizing its military forces, and committing to refrain from joining NATO.

Despite the pressure to sign the plan, Zelensky has asserted his intent to present counterarguments, persuade stakeholders, and propose alternative solutions.

The proposed peace agreement reportedly involves discussions between the United States and Russia and is perceived to be favorable to the interests of Russia. Key components include a reduction of Ukraine’s army from approximately 880,000 troops to 600,000, a prohibition on NATO membership, confirmation of Ukraine’s sovereignty, and a mandate for elections to be conducted within 100 days.

Furthermore, the plan stipulates the initiation of dialogue between Russia and NATO to address security concerns and expects Russia to uphold a commitment not to invade neighboring nations.
