“Virgin Media Upgrading Customers to Advanced Hub 5 Router”

Virgin Media is set to upgrade some of its broadband customers to newer routers for improved performance. The company announced that users still using older Hub 3 and Hub 4 devices will soon have the opportunity to switch to the more advanced Hub 5 without any extra charges.

The Hub 5 boasts upgraded Wi-Fi 6 technology, promising faster and more reliable connections compared to its predecessors. Eligible customers will be notified via email over the next few weeks and months as the upgrade is gradually rolled out throughout 2026.

Virgin Media highlighted that the Hub 5 comes equipped with Wi-Fi 6 technology and seven internal antennas, ensuring stronger and more consistent coverage within households. The company aims to benefit thousands of customers by upgrading them to the latest router this year.

If you are eligible for the upgrade, Virgin Media will contact you directly, eliminating the need for any immediate action on your part. Customers can also verify their eligibility by logging into their My Virgin Media account online.

To determine your current router model, you can check the sticker on the back or bottom of the device or access the information through the Virgin Media Connect app.

Upgrading to the Hub 5 can significantly enhance your broadband experience, offering wider Wi-Fi coverage, improved stability, and support for future updates. The router is optimized for faster Gig1 speeds, enabling faster downloads and streaming. Gig1 speeds allow for downloading a full HD movie in under 40 seconds, significantly surpassing the UK average speed.

Wi-Fi 6 represents the latest wireless networking technology, delivering faster speeds, increased efficiency, and better performance in busy settings. It accommodates more connected devices simultaneously, enhances performance across different frequency bands, and is energy-efficient, making it ideal for modern smart homes with multiple connected devices and high data requirements. Although Wi-Fi 7 is available, Wi-Fi 6 remains a suitable choice for the average user.
