Following the collision, a swift response from the police and emergency services was witnessed at the Östermalm bus stop, with numerous officers and paramedics on site. Despite efforts to aid the injured, it was confirmed that some individuals had succumbed to their injuries.

Michelle Marcher, representing the Stockholm region, reported that five individuals were injured, with two of them in serious condition and already taken to the hospital. Authorities clarified that there were no passengers on the bus at the time of the incident.

Nadya Norton, a police press officer, mentioned the presence of multiple officers and emergency services at the scene, refraining from providing details on the victims’ demographics at that time.

Subsequently, the bus driver was apprehended on suspicion of aggravated manslaughter in connection with the collision, which is currently not being treated as a terrorist act.

Another witness, Michelle Mac Key, described the chaotic scene after alighting from a different bus and witnessing the bus crash at the stop, causing a state of disarray.
