Locals in central Stockholm were shocked by a bus crashing into a bus stop, causing chaos with loud bangs and sudden screams. The incident in Östermalm resulted in multiple casualties and injuries. Police swiftly responded to the crash scene, where numerous emergency vehicles were deployed to aid the injured. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with one resident recounting hearing the crash from their room and seeing people on the ground.
Another witness, Michelle Mac Key, described the aftermath as total chaos after disembarking from a different bus. She mentioned feeling shaken by the event and witnessing the bus collision with the bus stop. Authorities confirmed several casualties and injuries, with five individuals, including two seriously wounded, being taken to the hospital.
The bus involved in the incident was empty and out of service at the time. The bus driver was arrested on suspicion of aggravated manslaughter, although the incident is not considered a terrorist attack. Police refrained from disclosing details about the victims’ identities.
