A man has received a life sentence for the savage killing of his spouse with a pair of scissors.
Brian Alan Jutson Sr, aged 47, has been sentenced to life imprisonment in a state correctional facility for the brutal murder of Sherry Shugart Jutson in 2023, according to official court records. The individual, hailing from Texas, allegedly undertook a seven-hour journey to strangle and repeatedly stab his wife over 30 times, driven by suspicions of her unfaithfulness.
In June 2023, law enforcement officers from the College Station Police Department responded to a distressing 911 call indicating that the caller’s father had killed their stepmother. Upon arrival, emergency medical service personnel found Sherry’s lifeless body in the main bedroom.
It was confirmed by authorities that two children were inside the residence during the incident but did not witness or hear the violent act.
“Following an investigation at the scene, it was established that there was a domestic altercation between a husband and wife,” stated the police at the time, as per information from the Mirror US.
“The wife suffered fatal stabbings during the altercation. The husband fled but was later apprehended with the help of the Bryan, Texas, Police Department and the Department of Public Safety.”
During subsequent police questioning, Brian Juston confessed to the horrendous crime, admitting that he had left his job in West Texas and driven continuously for seven hours to confront his wife due to his belief of her infidelity.
Juston disclosed recalling strangling and stabbing his wife with scissors but could not remember the exact number of stabbings. He recounted her desperate pleas for mercy, where she uttered, “Baby, I love you please stop. I’m dying.”
After the brutal incident, Brian cleaned himself in a shower to rid of the blood before leaving the premises.
Although Brian Jutson pleaded guilty to the murder, additional evidence was presented by prosecutors during the trial’s penalty phase. This included witness testimonies of the attack and messages sent by Brian to his wife leading up to her demise, as reported by KBTX.
On 13 November, District Judge Kyle Hawthorne sentenced Jutson to life imprisonment.
