“Trump Faces Deadline on Epstein Files Bill”

Donald Trump has a ten-day deadline to approve the bill mandating the release of the Epstein files after it was passed by Congress late last night. Initially, Trump opposed the release of the files and urged House members to withdraw from the petition advocating for it.

However, earlier this week, he shifted his stance and indicated support for House Republicans to pass the measure, which mandates the files to be made available in a searchable format within 30 days. Trump’s argument is centered on the political affiliations of Jeffrey Epstein’s associates, emphasizing that he is unconcerned about the release as Epstein’s circle comprised mainly Democrats.

Expressing readiness to sign the bill upon its arrival at his desk, Trump asserted, “We have no involvement with Epstein. The Democrats do. All his associates were Democrats.” He further stated, “Let the Senate review it. Let anyone examine it. But refrain from excessive discussion, as it primarily concerns the Democrats. They were all Epstein’s allies. It’s a sham. The entire issue is a hoax, and I don’t want it to detract from the remarkable achievements of the Republican Party in recent times.”

The implication is that Trump could not be implicated in the files due to his Republican affiliation. However, a significant flaw exists in this argument.

Donald Trump maintained a friendship with Jeffrey Epstein from the late 1980s until approximately 2007, when he claims to have barred the infamous sex offender from his Mar A Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida. Besides his association with Epstein, Trump was also a registered Democrat for a large part of that period.

During the period relevant to the Justice Department’s probe and the Epstein files, Trump was both a friend of Epstein and a Democrat, despite his current Republican status.
