The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) has provided clarity regarding the audience composition at the Saudi Arabia Darts Masters following comments made by Nathan Aspinall suggesting otherwise.
The tournament commenced recently with notable players like Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen, and Luke Humphries participating alongside Aspinall.
After his victory over Lourence Ilagan, Aspinall shared his perspective on the event’s ambiance, mentioning that there is room for improvement in the overall experience. He hinted that some attendees may not have come entirely by choice, indicating a different atmosphere compared to traditional darts venues.
In response to Aspinall’s remarks, the PDC affirmed that all spectators present were enthusiastic fans, emphasizing that the event marked a unique opportunity for many attendees to witness live darts for the first time.
Separately, current world champion Luke Littler expressed his views on the subdued atmosphere, contrasting it with the vibrant environments he’s accustomed to. Despite the quieter setting, Littler managed to secure a win, acknowledging the need for a livelier ambiance in future matches.
The PDC’s debut in Saudi Arabia garnered significant interest, with attendees comprising ticket holders and guests, reflecting a positive reception to the tournament’s introduction in the region.
