“Mother of Four Killed in Knife Attack, Husband Injured: Accused Charged”

An individual has been formally accused in connection with a brutal knife assault that led to the death of a mother of four and left her husband injured.

The accused, a man in his twenties, allegedly carried out the attack on Stella and Brian Gallagher in Cork, Ireland. Tragically, Stella lost her life at the scene of the violent incident, while her husband Brian is currently receiving medical treatment. Authorities have disclosed that a man taken into custody at the scene has now been charged in relation to the event and is scheduled to appear before Cork City District Court later today.

Stella and Brian are parents to their daughter Ciara and three sons named David, Conor, and Matthew. The investigation into this tragic occurrence is still ongoing, and a thorough forensic examination of the premises has been conducted. A spokesperson from the Garda stated, “Gardaí are actively investigating the fatal incident that occurred in Ballinlough on the evening of Monday, November 17, 2025. The male individual in his twenties, who was apprehended at the scene, has been charged and is set to appear in front of the Cork City District Court later today, Wednesday, November 19, 2025.”

Law enforcement officers were summoned to the residence on the south side of the city shortly after 9 pm on Monday, with Armed Support Units dispatched to the location. Residents informed CorkBeo this morning that there was distressing screaming heard from outside the house in the typically tranquil neighborhood, prompting immediate calls to emergency services.

Mrs. Gallagher was employed as a chemical engineer at a pharmaceutical company. A family liaison officer has been assigned to provide assistance to the deceased’s relatives, and an incident room has been established at Angelsea Street Garda Station under the supervision of a senior investigating officer.

Local councilor Peter Horgan conveyed to CorkBeo that the incident has brought a somber atmosphere over the community. He expressed, “It’s a terrible tragedy, my thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their extended family. The authorities have initiated their inquiry and should be given the necessary space to carry out their duties, but this incident has cast a shadow over the whole parish; it’s a very sorrowful situation.”

“We urge any witnesses to this incident to step forward. Anyone who was in the Shrewsbury Downs area of Ballinlough between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm on Monday, November 17, 2025, and might possess camera recordings (including home security and dash-cam footage) is urged to provide such material to the investigating Gardaí.
