“Tommy Fleetwood Aims for Victory at DP World Tour Championship”

Professional golfer Tommy Fleetwood has praised Dubai as he aims for success at the upcoming DP World Tour Championship. Moving to the United Arab Emirates earlier this year has made the tournament even more significant for the 34-year-old, who has achieved notable victories since relocating, including his first PGA Tour win after 15 years as a professional.

Following his pivotal role in Team Europe’s Ryder Cup triumph, Fleetwood is now focused on securing an individual victory at Jumeirah Golf Estates this weekend. With two previous runner-up finishes at the DP World Tour Championship, Fleetwood is a strong contender for the top spot as the championship rounds commence.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the event, Fleetwood mentioned, “This is the last event I’ll play this year, and it’s been an amazing one. It would be incredible to finish it off with a win.” He highlighted the comfort of having his family present and the familiarity of the course, emphasizing his determination to capitalize on this opportunity.

Fleetwood, alongside his wife and long-time manager Clare, made the move to Dubai three years ago. The couple, who share three sons, has witnessed Fleetwood’s career ascendancy, culminating in his PGA Tour victory and subsequent achievements, including leading in Ryder Cup points and winning the DP World India Championship.

The golfer’s impact extends beyond his personal successes, as he has established his own academy at Jumeirah Golf Estates, contributing to the growth of golf in the region. Fleetwood’s positive outlook on the sport’s popularity in the UAE reflects his belief in its expansion and enduring appeal.

At the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, Fleetwood commenced strongly on the Earth Course, vying for a portion of the substantial £7.6 million prize pool alongside other top contenders like Rory McIlroy. The ultimate victor stands to claim around £2.3 million from the prestigious tournament.
