Topshop is making a comeback to the British high street today through a new collaboration with John Lewis. After closing its standalone stores in 2021, the renowned fashion brand will now be featured in all 32 department stores of John Lewis and on their website, with Topman products available in seven locations.
The launch will showcase a curated collection of 130 of Topshop’s most sought-after pieces, focusing on their iconic denim items. This initiative was confirmed last year following successful pop-up events at various John Lewis stores and is part of John Lewis’ substantial £800 million investment in new brands for the spring/summer season.
Topshop and Topman had disappeared from UK high streets after their former owner, Arcadia, went into administration in 2021. The brands were subsequently acquired by ASOS, which initially reintroduced Topshop products online. Last year, Topshop also made a return to London’s Oxford Street in a partnership with department store Liberty.
Michelle Wilson, the managing director of Topshop, expressed excitement about the collaboration with John Lewis, emphasizing the convenience it offers to customers in accessing their favorite Topshop and Topman pieces promptly. The move coincides with London Fashion Week and will be followed by a significant presence at Piccadilly Circus in London and other activations across the UK.
John Lewis is actively driving its growth strategy under the leadership of CEO Peter Ruis, who highlighted the importance of investing in the fashion sector to align with the company’s vision. The exclusive partnership with Topshop signifies John Lewis’ commitment to establishing itself as a leading fashion destination on the British high street.
In addition to the Topshop launch, John Lewis is introducing 14 new fashion, jewelry, and accessory labels for the upcoming season, further enhancing its fashion offerings. The move underscores the retailer’s dedication to expanding its fashion portfolio and solidifying its position in the market.
