“Royal Mail Warns of Delays in 100+ UK Postcodes”

Royal Mail issued a caution regarding potential delays in service across more than 100 UK postcodes. Are you concerned about receiving your mail from Royal Mail? The postal service identified 38 delivery offices that might experience disruptions due to inclement weather and increased sick leave among workers, affecting approximately 100 postcodes nationwide.

According to a company spokesperson, adverse weather conditions, including storms named Goretti, Ingrid, and Chandra in January, coupled with higher-than-normal sick leave rates, have caused temporary disruptions in specific delivery routes. While most mail is still being delivered on schedule, the company acknowledges the frustration when deliveries are delayed.

In response to any delays, the company plans to deploy additional support to expedite the restoration of normal deliveries. Recent reports from the BBC suggested that some letters were delayed for weeks in Royal Mail offices, with claims that parcels were given priority over letters in certain locations.

Royal Mail attributes the increased parcel deliveries to the rise in online shopping, whereas the volume of addressed letters being processed has declined. With a network serving nearly two million postcodes, Royal Mail commits to delivering mail six days a week, striving to maintain punctual delivery of both letters and parcels.

Last year, the regulator Ofcom approved Royal Mail’s proposal to eliminate second-class letter deliveries on Saturdays and transition to alternate weekday services, initially piloted in 35 delivery offices. However, the nationwide rollout to all 1,200 sites has been postponed due to unresolved negotiations with the Communication Workers Union.
