M4 Collision Causes Traffic Chaos in Swansea

The M4 eastbound in Swansea had to be shut down due to a collision, resulting in significant traffic delays for commuters during peak hours. The closure impacted the motorway stretch between J47 Penllergaer and J46 Llangyfelach, according to Traffic Wales. Fortunately, the road has now been reopened, and traffic conditions have returned to normal after the earlier incident on the M4. Although the traffic situation is improving following the crash and subsequent closure on the M4 eastbound, some delays are still being experienced, with drivers facing approximately 30-minute delays. The AA’s traffic monitor reports ongoing delays of around 45 minutes on the M4. Inrix, a traffic monitoring site, has provided details stating that the M4 Eastbound remains closed, resulting in severe delays due to an accident from J47 A483 (Penllergaer / Swansea West Services) to J46 A48 (Llangyfelach), with congestion extending to J48 (Hendy / Llanelli). Drivers are being redirected to use the A48 as an alternative route. Traffic Wales has confirmed the closure of the eastbound section of the motorway between J47 Penllergaer and J46 Llangyfelach, with drivers directed to leave the M4 at J47 and utilize the A48 instead.
