In a stroke of luck, two individuals holding Premium Bonds from Liverpool and Norfolk have each won a substantial £1 million. The National Savings & Investments (NS&I) disclosed that the first £1 million winning bond number, 496VT504601, belongs to a Liverpool resident who acquired the bond in April 2022, holding a maximum of £50,000. This marks the fifth jackpot triumph for Liverpool. The second £1 million bond number, 282NN327573, is held by a person in Norfolk who purchased the winning bond in September 2016, also with a maximum holding of £50,000, making them the third Norfolk resident to secure the £1 million jackpot.
NS&I Retail Director, Andrew Westhead, expressed delight for the Liverpool and Norfolk winners, stating that spring has truly arrived for them with their £1 million wins this March. Apart from the jackpot winners, over £410 million in tax-free prizes were drawn this month, with more than six million prizes awarded by ERNIE. To confirm if you are a lucky Premium Bonds recipient, the NS&I prize checker app can be consulted starting from Tuesday, March 3.
The March draw will award a total of £410,607,175 to Premium Bonds winners, totaling 6,221,321 tax-free prizes. This brings the cumulative prize value since the inaugural draw in June 1957 to £821 million and a total value exceeding £40.3 billion. Beyond the two £1 million winners, other fortunate bond holders will include 78 individuals who secured £100,000 in this month’s draw, alongside 156 prizes of £50,000 each, 313 prizes of £25,000 each, and 782 prizes of £10,000 each. Additionally, nearly 2.7 million bond holders will receive £25 each.
Originally introduced in November 1956, Premium Bonds offer individuals the opportunity to hold up to £50,000 in bonds, ensuring security backed by the UK Treasury while potentially winning tax-free prizes. Newly purchased Premium Bonds must be held for a full calendar month before being eligible for the prize draw. The bond numbers for the £1 million jackpot winners are revealed on the first working day of each month after direct contact by Agent Million.
Bond holders can verify their prizes ranging from £25 to £100,000 on the Premium Bonds prize checker app, NS&I website, or by using Alexa, starting from Tuesday, March 3. To check prizes on the NS&I website, bond holders will require their Premium Bonds holder’s number. Alternatively, for those utilizing the Premium Bonds app, they can use their holder’s number or their NS&I number.
