Reform UK’s major donor faces criticism for suggesting young people relocate to Dubai, with accusations of lacking patriotism and implying a bleak future in the UK for them. Records reveal that Charlie Mullins donated £40,000 to Reform UK prior to the general election and expressed consideration of standing for Reform in the UK.
The businessman, known for founding Pimlico Plumbers, received backlash previously for controversial comments about London Mayor Sadiq Khan. Labour chair Anna Turley MP condemned Mullins’ remarks, stating that it undermines the country and discourages young people from staying in Britain.
Mullins took to Twitter to propose a program in Dubai to facilitate the relocation of UK youngsters, citing a better future and safety in Dubai compared to the UK. This sparked further criticism from Labour MP Rosie Wrighting, emphasizing the importance of championing Britain and not promoting emigration.
In previous statements, Mullins mentioned leaving the UK due to a Labour “tax grab” and hinted at potential involvement in public office. Despite facing potential OBE revocation over controversial behavior, Mullins expressed interest in engaging with Reform UK and potentially returning to the UK for political roles.
The Mirror has reached out to Mullins and Reform UK for comments on the matter.
