“Gunshots Reported at Children’s Park: Police Launch Investigation”

Police responded to a disturbance at a children’s play park following reports of gunshots in the area. Merseyside Police were summoned to a playing field on Hapsford Road, Litherland, around 9.45 pm on Wednesday after locals heard loud noises and shouting. Witnesses mentioned seeing a group of five youths making their way toward the train station, some on foot and others using electric or push bikes.

Law enforcement officials conducted a thorough search of the fields and reviewed CCTV footage for any signs of firearm usage. Additionally, they conducted house-to-house inquiries and established a police cordon as part of their investigation. Residents recounted seeing police activity around a smaller field adjacent to the main park, with one resident mistaking the sounds for fireworks due to children setting them off frequently.

Residents in the vicinity observed a significant police presence with officers combing the area extensively. The incident occurred near a children’s play area, prompting the closure of Hapsford Road Park in Litherland. The police investigation included the deployment of Matrix vans and forensic officers at the scene to gather evidence.

Merseyside Police urged the public to provide any relevant information or footage related to the incident. Detective Edward Barr appealed for witnesses to step forward and emphasized the importance of community cooperation in ensuring safety. The ongoing police operation involved door-to-door inquiries and a large cordon around the affected areas, causing disruptions for residents and school-goers in the neighborhood.
