“UK Broadband Complaints Hit Record Low”

The most recent broadband complaint data has been released, revealing a mix of positive and negative trends. On a positive note, the latest statistics from Ofcom indicate an overall improvement in the broadband industry’s performance.

Ofcom reports that complaints against major UK broadband providers have reached their lowest point on record. The number of complaints has significantly decreased from a peak of 40 per 100,000 customers in 2011 to just six per 100,000 customers in the first quarter of 2026.

Despite the overall decline in complaints, TalkTalk customers faced disappointing news as the provider did not perform as well as its competitors. Ofcom’s new data shows that TalkTalk received the highest number of customer complaints between January and March 2026, making it the most complained-about broadband provider in the UK.

According to Ofcom, TalkTalk maintained a high level of complaints similar to the previous quarter, with issues mainly revolving around faults, service quality, provisioning, complaints handling, and billing concerns. TalkTalk registered 10 complaints per 100,000 customers, surpassing Vodafone (8) and BT (7). In contrast, Plusnet had the lowest number of complaints at four per 100,000 customers, closely followed by Sky with five.

In the realm of landline services, Utility Warehouse, Sky, Virgin Media, and Vodafone shared the top position with just two complaints per 100,000 customers. For pay-TV services, TalkTalk and Sky were the best performers, each receiving only two complaints per 100,000 customers.

Cristina Luna-Esteban, Ofcom’s Director of Consumers and Retail Markets, expressed satisfaction at the decrease in broadband complaints to record lows. Luna-Esteban emphasized the need for companies to continuously enhance their services and prioritize customer satisfaction. She encouraged dissatisfied customers to explore other providers and highlighted recent initiatives to facilitate easier switching processes and cost savings.
