Despite this, both the White House and a representative for Swift have yet to provide any comments on the matter. Swift, who expressed support for Trump’s Democratic opponent, Vice-President Kamala Harris, in 2024, has not recently addressed Trump directly. However, during the 2020 election, she made it clear on social media that she did not want Trump as president.
Trump has been openly critical of Swift, particularly after she endorsed Harris. He has publicly stated his dislike for Swift on social media. Various artists, including Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande, have also requested that the Trump administration refrain from using their music.
The Trump campaign featured two Swift songs on its TikTok page in the past week. One video referenced Swift’s songs, with a caption alluding to a remix of her song “Red.” Additionally, in June, the campaign shared a video featuring Swift’s new track “I Knew It, I Knew You,” aligning it with messages of patriotism and love for the American people.
This is not the first time the Trump administration has used Swift’s music in their content. In April, a video showcased the crew of Artemis II meeting Trump at the White House, accompanied by Swift’s song “High Infidelity.” Another TikTok video from November featured Swift’s song “The Fate of Ophelia” and included images of the U.S. flag, monuments, and various pictures of Trump.
These videos have sparked significant reactions on social media platforms. The White House defended the content, stating that they anticipated media coverage of the videos. Trump’s communication team, known for its active social media presence, has frequently paired popular songs with visuals depicting various political events and actions.
