Marc-André Porlier, a resident of Montreal, faces charges of making threats to cause harm or death, as detailed in a news release by the RCMP. The purported threats were relayed via email to several unidentified recipients, including a senator, as stated in the official communication from law enforcement. Additionally, the accused is alleged to have targeted “all Canadian police officers,” as indicated in the legal documentation.
Authorities confirmed that Porlier had previously been convicted of arson and vandalism for setting fire to a church in Toronto in 2017, according to CBC News. The RCMP spokesperson noted that Porlier was serving probation for these offenses at the time of his recent arrest. Porlier made a court appearance on Saturday, as per the news release, with the charges yet to be proven in court.
