After being eliminated from the W Canadian Championship, Montreal Roses took swift action by announcing the dismissal of their inaugural head coach, Robert Rositoiu. The club’s sporting director, Marinette Pichon, made the announcement in a press release issued on Thursday morning, expressing gratitude to Rositoiu for his foundational work with the professional women’s soccer club during its early stages.
Acknowledging the difficulty of parting ways with a coach, the statement emphasized the decision was made out of respect for Rositoiu’s professionalism. The club stressed the necessity of injecting new energy to navigate the rest of the season and propel the club’s growth further.
Currently positioned in second place in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, the Roses have 10 remaining matches in their regular season. Rositoiu assumed the role of head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the Roses’ debut season in the NSL in 2025.
In the interim, Maryse Bard-Martel, the team’s former first assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will take on the role of interim head coach while the club undertakes the search for a permanent replacement for Rositoiu. Bard-Martel will lead the team in their upcoming match against AFC Toronto on Sunday.
