After an extensive 24-hour search, Sudbury authorities have confirmed the discovery of a deceased 26-year-old man in Crowley Lake following a tragic canoe accident. The Greater Sudbury Police Service reported that emergency services were alerted to the incident on Thursday afternoon at approximately 3:45 p.m., with the man being located around 3 p.m. the following day. To protect the privacy of the deceased’s family, the police have opted not to disclose his identity. According to initial reports, a canoe carrying three individuals overturned in the lake, leading to a rescue operation where two individuals were safely brought ashore by kayakers. The search efforts involved ground searches conducted by officers and K-9 units, as well as aerial surveillance using a drone and assistance from an Ontario Provincial Police helicopter.
