Montreal authorities have confirmed that a woman discovered deceased in a Saint-Michel apartment on Saturday afternoon was the victim of a homicide. Responding to a wellness check call at approximately 1:45 p.m., police found an unresponsive woman and a 51-year-old man with stab wounds on his upper body at the location. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Although the full extent of the woman’s injuries is still being assessed, police have determined that she was also stabbed. On the following morning, law enforcement officially declared the incident as a murder case.
According to Johany Charland, a spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), the man is now a prime suspect in the ongoing investigation. Authorities are actively working to confirm the victim’s identity and establish the relationship dynamics between the man and the deceased woman. This tragic event marks the fifteenth homicide in Montreal so far this year.
