“SIU Investigates Single-Vehicle Collision in Wellington County”

The police watchdog in the province is currently investigating a single-vehicle collision that took place in Wellington County over the weekend. Wellington County OPP reported that they informed the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) following the incident, which occurred following an unsuccessful attempt to pull over the vehicle in Guelph/Eramosa Township just after midnight. Subsequently, the same vehicle was involved in a solo crash. The car was occupied by five individuals, all of whom were transported to the hospital, with three confirmed to have sustained injuries. A social media update by the OPP indicated the closure of Sideroad 10 between Wellington Road 27 and Sixth Line due to the crash. The road closure lasted for several hours until being reopened by provincial police at 8:23 p.m. The SIU has initiated a formal inquiry into the matter.
