“Plane Wreckage Found in Kawartha Lakes, Pilot Missing”

Durham police have discovered plane wreckage in the Kawartha Lakes area while searching for a pilot who is missing and believed to have flown into the region. Const. Nick Gluckstein mentioned in a statement that the Trenton Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) found aircraft debris near Queen Elizabeth II Provincial Park, located about a 45-minute drive north of the Kawartha Lakes municipality. The authorities have not confirmed if the debris is from the single-seat aircraft of the 73-year-old missing pilot, identified as David.

David departed from Oshawa Airport in his plane at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and was scheduled to return by 9:30 a.m., as per a police statement posted on Saturday. The missing plane is described by Ontario Provincial Police as a small blue homemade aircraft with the tail marked with “FOFZ.” David, an experienced pilot standing at five feet seven inches tall with a slim frame, black grey hair, and a moustache, typically flies in the region south of Kawartha Lakes township and north of Lake Scugog, with the last known location believed to be around Balsam Lake.

Trenton JRCC and Kawartha Lakes OPP will be joining forces to search the area where the debris was located, as confirmed by Gluckstein.
