The victim, who was playing on the sidewalk along Wellington Street close to Sussex Drive, was unexpectedly assaulted by an unidentified male wielding an edged weapon around 4 p.m. After the assault, the assailant fled the scene but was promptly apprehended in the vicinity. The bagpiper sustained minor hand injuries and received medical attention from paramedics at the location. The arrested individual faces several charges, including assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, possessing a dangerous weapon, obstructing/resisting arrest, and breaching probation (two counts). Authorities have confirmed that the investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
