“Windsor Municipal Election Candidates Announced”

Local voters in Windsor are set to discover their choices for the upcoming municipal election this afternoon as the nomination period closes at 2 p.m. On October 26, residents will have the opportunity to elect a mayor and 10 councilors. As nominations wrap up, the mayoral race is shaping up with incumbent Drew Dilkens announcing his intention to seek a fourth term. Dilkens will face competition from Fred Francis, current Ward 1 councillor, and several other contenders including Kat Pasquach.

In Ward 1, Darcie Renaud, who previously challenged Fred Francis for the seat, now has five challengers, such as Linda Qin and Frank Providenti. Ward 2 incumbent Frazier Fathers will face two new challengers to retain his seat. In Ward 3, incumbent Renaldo Agostino faces two challengers including Spiro S. Spiliadis. Ward 4 will see a new council representative as Mark McKenzie is not seeking re-election, with Chris Holt among the candidates.

Ward 5 residents will elect a new councillor following Ed Sleiman’s decision not to run again, with Ken Acton among the contenders. In Ward 6, Jo-Anne Gignac is not seeking re-election, and a list of seven candidates is vying for her seat. Ward 7 incumbent Angelo Marignani faces two challengers including Beth Ann Prince. Ward 8 sees incumbent Gary Kaschak seeking a third term against challenger Kevin Racine.

In Ward 9, incumbent Kieran McKenzie faces a new challenger, a local Realtor. Ward 10 incumbent Jim Morrison is seeking a third term and will contend with three challengers. The municipal election race is heating up as candidates finalize their nominations.
