With the municipal elections scheduled for October 26, residents in northeastern Ontario will soon be casting their votes. Here is a breakdown of the mayoral candidates vying for positions in various communities in the region.
In Greater Sudbury, the mayoral candidates are Joseph Boutros, Paul Lefebvre (the incumbent), Keenan Menard, Mike McIntosh, Rodney Newton, and Miranda Rocca-Circelli.
North Bay’s mayoral candidates include Connor Currie, Maggie Horsfield, Jamie Lowery, and Daniel Seguin. The current mayor, Peter Chirico, announced on August 21 that he would not seek re-election.
In Timmins, the mayoral candidates are Michelle Boileau (the incumbent), Robert Boucher, Nathan Boulet, Rob Knox, Lawrence Martin, and Chris McNeil.
Sault Ste. Marie’s mayoral candidates are Josh McNally, Matthew Shoemaker (the incumbent), Selva Rasaiah, Joel Rowswell, and Matthew Toffelmire.
Andrew Wannan is the sole candidate running for mayor in Elliot Lake, as no other individuals have applied to run.
In Temiskaming Shores, Jeff Laferriere (the incumbent) is the only candidate running for mayor, as no other candidates have submitted applications.
