Four youths trespassed at Pools By Angelo and used the outdoor display pool in Windsor. The business owners are concerned about the safety implications of this incident. Angelo Mariani Jr., the manager and co-owner, emphasized the importance of community safety in light of the unauthorized access to their premises.
A social media post by Pools By Angelo sparked public discussion after Mariani Jr. shared a security camera footage showing four young males playing on the property during the early hours of August 19. The business, situated on Jefferson Boulevard, showcases a small, shallow in-ground pool visible from the street for demonstration purposes.
According to Mariani Jr., the trespassers scaled a fence around 4:30 a.m. to enter the pool area. In addition to playful activities, they tampered with equipment, attempted to enter the building, and left behind alcohol containers and vaping devices. Mariani Jr. highlighted the potential risks posed by features of the display pool, including waterfalls and concrete structures, especially to individuals impaired by substances.
While no injuries occurred, Mariani Jr. stressed the responsibility Pools By Angelo holds as a company with a display pool. Despite not reporting the incident to the police as of Friday afternoon, he expressed the desire for the trespassers to understand and respect the property boundaries.
Addressing concerns about the business’s response, Mariani Jr. emphasized the importance of parental awareness regarding such incidents involving young individuals. The Windsor Police Service confirmed they did not receive a report about the trespassing incident from either Pools By Angelo or an alarm company.
