Serena Williams is set to join forces with Carlos Alcaraz in a formidable mixed doubles partnership as she makes her comeback at the U.S. Open. The U.S. Tennis Association revealed that Williams and Alcaraz have secured a wild card entry into the tournament, with the mixed doubles competition commencing on Tuesday.
This marks Williams’ first appearance at the U.S. Open since 2022, following her return to tennis earlier this summer after a break. While it remains uncertain if she will also participate in the singles event in New York, the USTA has reserved a women’s wild card spot for her if she decides to enter. Notably, Williams competed in singles at Wimbledon and teamed up with her sister Venus for doubles at the Cincinnati Open.
On the other hand, Alcaraz recently confirmed his intention to defend his U.S. Open singles title after an injury-induced hiatus since April due to a right wrist injury.
