A U.S. mail boat team successfully rescued two individuals from a sinking jet ski beneath the Ambassador Bridge on Friday evening. The J.W. Westcott Company deployed the U.S. Mail boat M.S. Westcott to provide aid while the Windsor-based tour boat Macassa Bay also attempted to assist the distressed jet ski riders.
The highly maneuverable M.S. Westcott approached the scene, enabling the crew to retrieve the two men from the Detroit River and then tow the sinking jet ski to the Westcott Dock. According to the company, the rescued individuals explained that they were carried downstream after their rented jet ski started taking on water near Detroit’s Ralph C. Wilson Centennial Park. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident.
Notably, the J.W. Westcott Company, a Detroit-based marine delivery service specializing in mail and supplies transportation along the Detroit River, conducted the successful rescue operation.
