“Ontario Police Watchdog Probes Serious Collision”

Ontario’s police watchdog is currently conducting an investigation following a significant collision between a vehicle and a police cruiser situated north of London on Sunday afternoon. Emergency responders were dispatched to the junction of Nairn Road and Centre Road in North Middlesex at approximately 3:30 p.m. to attend to the incident involving an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) vehicle. Both an OPP officer and the driver of the civilian vehicle were transported to the hospital with severe injuries. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) of Ontario has initiated an inquiry into the matter. The SIU is responsible for examining incidents involving law enforcement officers and civilians that lead to serious harm, fatalities, or allegations of sexual misconduct. As a result of the collision, the OPP closed the Nairn and Centre roads intersection for several hours on Sunday.
