Former Québec Solidaire Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Vincent Marissal, who previously announced his retirement from politics, is making a switch to join the Parti Québécois for the upcoming general election.
The announcement of Marissal’s candidacy in the riding of Taschereau in the Quebec City region was made by PQ Leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon on Monday.
Marissal’s departure from Québec Solidaire last year was marked by his suspension from the caucus after it was revealed that he had been in talks with the PQ regarding a potential candidacy in the next election. Despite the circumstances, Marissal stated that his decision to leave QS was voluntary.
In a statement released on Monday, St-Pierre Plamondon praised Marissal’s parliamentary work, emphasizing his valuable experience that will benefit the Parti Québécois. The PQ leader highlighted their collaboration on significant issues, such as the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital matter, which symbolized the CAQ’s shortcomings in healthcare.
