Ottawa police have arrested and charged a suspect with first-degree murder in connection to the death of a 26-year-old Ottawa man in 2023. Granit Ahmeti was discovered with gunshot injuries on Farmers Way close to Carlsbad Springs in the early hours of Aug. 19, 2023. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was tragically declared deceased.
Initially, authorities indicated that the shooting appeared to be an isolated occurrence. However, on Monday, Richard Micks, aged 48 and hailing from the Georgian Bay region, was apprehended and formally accused of first-degree murder. Micks made his first appearance in court the following day.
Ahmeti, a co-owner of Canadian Towing, was remembered by the company as a compassionate sibling, devoted partner, and a profoundly kind companion. The police have urged anyone possessing additional information regarding the case to reach out to the homicide unit.
