“Arson Investigation Underway at MP’s Scarborough Residence”

CBC News has obtained information indicating that authorities are looking into a suspected arson incident at the residence of a Member of Parliament in Scarborough, where several cars were set on fire in the early hours of Thursday. The office of Salma Zahid, representing Scarborough Centre—Don Valley East, confirmed that Zahid’s vehicle and a neighboring tenant’s car were targeted in the incident. Zahid’s office is currently preparing a formal statement regarding the matter. The Toronto Police Department reported that three cars sustained damage due to a fire occurring at Bellamy Road N. and Lawrence Avenue E. at approximately 1:20 a.m. While the police did not explicitly link the incident to Zahid, no injuries were reported in connection with the arson. Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing and are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist the investigators.
