A teenager in Perth, Ontario, who was 16 years old at the time, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the murder of 15-year-old Reese Stanzel in 2024. The Youth Criminal Justice Act protects the identity of the convicted teenager. She admitted guilt for the crime in November. The prosecution and defense jointly recommended a 10-year sentence in July, the maximum for first-degree murder according to the act. The teenager, who has been in custody for over 600 days, will receive credit for one year served.
