A new Costco store is set to open in the east Windsor area, sparking a mix of anticipation and apprehension among locals and businesses. The upcoming store’s expected launch in November has created buzz, although the precise opening date remains undisclosed. Sheena Wilson, an avid Costco shopper and administrator of the Costco Windsor Mama social media platforms, expressed eagerness for the arrival of a second store, citing the current congestion at the Walker Road location.
Wilson, a Costco member for over a decade, hopes the new store will alleviate crowding by distributing shoppers between the two locations. Additionally, she looks forward to exploring different products and services at the new store, such as an expanded gas station and offerings like optical and hearing aids. Nearby businesses, like Windsor Beauty Supplies, are optimistic about the prospect of increased foot traffic and clientele with the Costco store’s arrival.
Despite some disruptions from ongoing construction, including noise and dust, business owners like Fay Zeboony are enthusiastic about the potential boost in business. Zeboony expressed concerns about heightened traffic levels following the store’s opening but emphasized the need for another Costco in Windsor to address the congestion issues at the existing location. Employees and patrons of establishments like Sidelines Sports Bar and Grill are also excited about the convenience of having a closer Costco store, anticipating benefits such as cost savings on bulk products and reduced travel time to suppliers.
Residents in the vicinity, like George Lalic, are looking forward to the new store’s opening, citing the existing overcrowding at the Walker Road branch. Expectations are high for the east end to experience a surge in activity and development as more people are attracted to the area.
