The Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) announced on Friday that its president and CEO, Cory Strang, is stepping down, creating vacancies in two key senior leadership positions. Strang, the first Indigenous CEO and a native of the N.W.T., has been in the CEO role since 2021, bringing 28 years of experience at NTPC, including serving as chief financial officer.
Following the retirement of the previous chief financial officer, the position remains unfilled. The company has kicked off a recruitment process to fill both the chief financial officer and CEO positions. Strang’s last day in office will be on December 31.
Judith Goucher, chair of the NTPC board, praised Strang for his leadership, vision, expertise, and humility in navigating numerous challenges during his tenure. Caroline Wawzonek, the minister overseeing NTPC, commended Strang for guiding the organization through significant changes and setting it up for future success.
