Democratic representatives Tim Kennedy, Joe Morelle, and Debbie Dingell introduced the Hands Off Our Great Lakes Act to reverse the name change and prevent any future renaming of the Great Lakes.
The issue gained attention as Google renamed Lake Ontario to “Lake America” on its maps for American users. President Trump also reportedly contacted Apple to encourage a similar change on Apple Maps, although MapQuest has stated it will not alter the name.
