Teen Arrested in Fatal Cornwall Crash

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have announced the arrest of a 17-year-old individual from Cornwall in connection with a fatal single-vehicle accident that occurred just north of the city earlier this summer. The incident took place on Headline Road near County Road 19 in South Stormont at approximately 3:40 a.m. on July 26, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.

Tragically, a 16-year-old girl from Cornwall lost her life at the crash site, while two other occupants of the vehicle sustained serious injuries and were airlifted to a nearby hospital. Following an investigation, the OPP revealed that the 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody and formally charged on Tuesday. The charges leveled against them include dangerous driving resulting in death, stunt driving, and failure to wear a seat belt properly.

After a bail hearing, the accused was released from custody and is set to appear in front of the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall for further legal proceedings.
