Thieves in the United Kingdom have taken their crime to a new level. Authorities in the UK are on a mission to retrieve 70,000 pints of stolen Guinness beer. The stolen goods, which amount to a value of 115,000 pounds ($216,000 Cdn), were taken from a warehouse close to Liverpool in northwest England, according to the Cheshire Constabulary.
Detective Sergeant Gary McClatchy emphasized the importance of ensuring that the stolen Guinness is fully recovered. The incident occurred when two drivers seized two trailer trucks loaded with the famous dark and creamy beer, which was meant for local pubs. The theft, valued at 50,000 pounds ($93,000), took place at an industrial park in Runcorn on Monday night.
This robbery comes shortly after a similar beer theft in the United States, where approximately 34,000 cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon were stolen. The Pabst theft, valued at $70,000 US ($97,000 Cdn), prompted the company to offer a $20,000 US reward for any information leading to the recovery of the stolen beer.
In response to the theft, the Pabst company took to social media, expressing their disappointment in the thief’s actions and urging them to return the stolen goods. The company’s Instagram post stated, “To the thief: we understand your desire to boast about your PBR stash, but we urge you to do so through honest means. This is a serious matter, and we are committed to resolving it.”
