“Fleeing Driver Apprehended After P.E.I. Head-On Collision”

Police have reported the apprehension of the driver who fled the site of a head-on collision in Stratford, P.E.I. The incident, which occurred on Stratford Road on Wednesday evening, involved two vehicles and resulted in several injuries.

According to authorities, a blue Chevrolet Equinox was heading towards the Hillsborough Bridge when it veered across the center line, crashing into an oncoming SUV. Preliminary investigations suggest that alcohol consumption and excessive speed played a role in the collision.

Following the crash, the driver of the Equinox absconded from the scene. Despite a search effort with a police dog on the same evening, the driver could not be located. However, Cpl. Gavin Moore, the media relations officer for the P.E.I. RCMP, confirmed that the individual has since been taken into custody, rendering further public assistance unnecessary at this time.

As of now, no charges have been pressed against the driver. Moore emphasized that their duty is to thoroughly investigate each case, gather all pertinent information, and only press charges once all facts are ascertained. He highlighted the importance of presenting a robust case in court, utilizing various forms of evidence such as visual recordings, accounts from witnesses, and meticulous analysis.

Furthermore, the police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or possesses relevant video footage to come forward and aid in the ongoing investigation.
