Two individuals from London are now facing charges linked to a shooting incident that occurred nearly two months ago in the Kipps Lane neighborhood, as announced by London police on Friday. The incident took place on August 9, 2026, at around 12:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Kipps Lane and Arbour Glen Crescent. Despite no injuries reported, a vehicle was struck by gunfire as evidenced by cartridge casings discovered at the scene. It remains uncertain if the vehicle was the intended target.
Following the incident, two suspects were observed discharging firearms and fleeing on foot before law enforcement officers arrived. After an extensive investigation, both suspects were apprehended by the police late last month. The accused individuals, a 19-year-old and a 20-year-old, both residents of London, have been charged jointly with reckless discharge of a firearm and possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without a valid license. Additionally, the 20-year-old faces a separate charge of possession of a Schedule I substance with intent to traffic.
Further details regarding the incident have not been disclosed as the police investigation continues. Authorities have called for any witnesses or residents with dashcam or surveillance footage to come forward to assist in the investigation.
This incident marks at least the 12th shooting in the city this year, following the recent fatal shooting at a Richmond Row apartment building that claimed the life of Robert Rico Rivard, 48. Mohamed Abdel Aziz Soumahoro, 21, from Laval, Quebec, is facing charges including second-degree murder in relation to this incident.
