Wellington OPP have pressed charges against a teenager from Guelph after an extensive investigation into a deadly crash that resulted in the demise of an 18-year-old male. The 17-year-old individual was taken into custody and formally accused by the authorities on September 24 for engaging in dangerous driving leading to a fatality.
The incident took place on October 30 last year, when law enforcement officers were summoned to a single-vehicle crash on Eastwood Road in Guelph-Eramosa Township, resulting in the tragic death of the 18-year-old male. Another 16-year-old male was taken to a medical facility after the collision.
Authorities have disclosed that the charged individual has been released from detention and is slated to appear in court in Guelph at a later date. The identity of the youth is shielded under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
