“Fancsy Family Hospital Breaks Ground in Windsor”

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Fancsy Family Hospital in Windsor saw the commencement of concrete pouring, marking a significant milestone for the project. A recent announcement from the hospital confirmed that the “first pour” took place earlier this month, signifying the initiation of structural work for the entire development.

Construction activities are now progressing on the tunnel, which will link the education and administration center of the campus with the main building of the Fancsy Family Hospital. Windsor Regional Hospital emphasized the importance of the tunnel as a vital connection facilitating the safe movement of staff, equipment, and supplies between the buildings, avoiding patient, visitor, and outdoor areas.

In the previous month, the construction team completed the installation of the hospital’s water main and storm sewer infrastructure. The ongoing phase of the project includes the tunnel, administration and education center, and the construction of a 700-car parking facility, anticipated to span over three years.

The subsequent phase will focus on constructing the diagnostic and treatment block, with the request for qualifications process already concluded and scheduled for release in the upcoming fall. A third phase is planned for the construction of a tower housing inpatient rooms.

The hospital’s groundbreaking ceremony in July was graced by dignitaries including Ontario Premier Doug Ford, Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens, Windsor Regional Hospital CEO Kristin Kennedy, and members of the Fancsy family. Kennedy projected that the hospital’s completion is not expected before 2033.
