“Man in Custody After Fatal Crash Kills Two Teens”

A 25-year-old man is in police custody following a fatal two-vehicle crash that claimed the lives of two teenagers on Monday evening. The accused, Dominic Marshall, made a virtual court appearance at Moncton provincial court on Wednesday, according to the RCMP. Marshall is charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death and two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

The tragic incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. on Berry Mills Road near the Zack Road intersection, where a car carrying five young individuals reportedly veered across the center line and collided head-on with an SUV carrying five occupants. Two teenagers, a 16-year-old girl, and an 18-year-old boy, lost their lives at the crash site.

Following the collision, the car driver sustained minor injuries and two other passengers were hospitalized. Among the injured were a 14-year-old boy with minor injuries and a 16-year-old boy in critical condition, both students at local high schools. The occupants of the SUV, all hailing from Arkansas, sustained minor injuries and were also taken to the hospital.

Under the Criminal Code, dangerous driving causing death is considered a serious offense with mandatory penalties, including a driving prohibition and a minimum fine of $1,000. While there is no specified minimum jail term, the maximum punishment can extend to life imprisonment. Marshall is scheduled to make another court appearance on Friday.
