Kristi Miller named interim chair of Hockey Canada’s board

Kristi Miller has been appointed as the interim chair of Hockey Canada’s board of directors, as announced by the governing body on Wednesday. Miller has been a board member since November 18, 2023, joining as part of the new appointees who took over from a transition board established during the Hockey Canada sexual assault scandal.

The previous Hockey Canada board, including president and CEO Scott Smith, resigned on October 11, 2022, following criticism over the organization’s handling of sexual assault allegations involving five members of Canada’s 2018 world junior team. Last November, Miller was re-elected as a director for a three-year term. She hails from Vancouver and serves as the president of financial service company RTB Enterprises Inc., having previously chaired Hockey Canada’s audit and finance committee.

Hockey Canada is set to elect a new board chair to succeed Jonathan Goldbloom, who resigned on Monday, during its annual meeting scheduled for December 5 in Toronto.
