Voters residing in Inuvik Twin Lakes are set to participate in a by-election on November 24 to select a new Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) following the resignation of former MLA and health minister Lesa Semmler last month. Semmler, who was initially elected to the N.W.T. Legislative Assembly in 2019, stepped down without providing a specific reason, citing only a thoughtful decision-making process.
In a recent announcement, Elections N.W.T. disclosed that the writ for the by-election will be issued on October 26, marking the commencement of the nomination phase. The nomination period will conclude on October 30 at 2 p.m., with voting scheduled to commence on November 3 at the returning officer’s office. Election day is set for November 24, running from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Elections N.W.T. is actively urging residents to register for voting and verify their voting details to ensure a smooth electoral process.
