“PM Carney Addresses Alberta Referendum from Edmonton School”

Prime Minister Mark Carney spoke to the public from a classroom in Alberta on Thanksgiving morning, addressing the upcoming referendum on Alberta’s potential separation from Canada. Carney emphasized the significance of the decision facing Albertans in a week’s time, reflecting on his personal connection to Alberta as his hometown.

Albertans are gearing up for the October 19 referendum featuring 10 questions, with the final one focusing on whether Alberta should maintain its status as a province within Canada or proceed with a second binding referendum on independence.

Speaking from St. Francis Xavier High School in west Edmonton, Carney highlighted the ongoing development in Alberta, including federal housing projects, plans for a high-speed rail link between Edmonton and Calgary, and a proposed pipeline connecting the province’s oilfields to the West Coast. He stressed the importance of unity for progress, stating that division hinders the ability to accomplish significant projects.

Carney also touched on the economic and security threats facing Canada, underscoring the historical contributions of Albertans to the nation’s growth. He urged unity in safeguarding and advancing the shared heritage of all Canadians.

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
