“Kelly Clarkson Sparks Debate Over Encounter at Brooklyn Shop”

Kelly Clarkson engaged in a verbal dispute with a specialty shop in Brooklyn over the weekend. The singer accused the store of treating her poorly when she inquired about a unique item, which the shop claims was never intended for sale.

The online conflict began when Clarkson shared on Saturday that she had visited the store in Brooklyn but felt snubbed by the staff. She mentioned feeling judged and compared the experience to a scene from the movie “Pretty Woman.”

The shop, known as Art of Play, responded on Sunday, clarifying that the item Clarkson inquired about, named “Molly,” was not for sale as it was a one-of-a-kind bird automaton permanently affixed to the wall. They emphasized that all customers were equally welcome at their establishment.

Clarkson retaliated later that day by posting a photo showing a price tag of $15,000 US next to the wooden bird automaton, calling out the shop for being rude and dishonest. She highlighted the importance of kindness in interactions.

The shop explained on Monday that they had offered Clarkson a similar item by the same artist for sale at $15,000 US and had other bird automatons available for purchase at around $2,000. They expressed disappointment over the negative attention received online.

The dispute sparked varied reactions, with some criticizing Clarkson for bringing unwanted attention to a small business and others condemning the shop’s handling of the situation. The controversy highlighted the importance of respect in customer interactions.

The bird automaton in question, named Molly, is a unique wall-mounted wooden bird that moves realistically and sings when activated. Created by artist Bliss Kolb, Molly is part of a series of wooden automatons featuring birds, butterflies, and a dragonfly, with prices ranging from $4,000 to $12,000 US.
