Quebec’s famous electric rock duo, known for their unique style of microtonality and math rock, as well as their distinctive black-and-white, polka-dotted full-body costumes, have become a popular choice for Halloween attire. Instead of the typical salt-and-pepper shaker costumes, individuals can now opt for the Angine de Poitrine couple’s costume, available for purchase at Party Expert, a prominent party supply store in Canada.
Following recent media coverage, the costumes quickly sold out online on Tuesday but were restocked by Wednesday morning, indicating the band’s rising mainstream appeal. Fans have embraced the duo as a symbol of anti-AI creativity, praising their commitment to eccentricity, from their unique electronic sound to their claim of being 333-year-old time-traveling aliens who communicate in a fictional language during performances.
For approximately $105 each, enthusiasts can replicate drummer Klek de Poitrine’s iconic white ensemble and guitarist Khn de Poitrine’s signature black attire this Halloween. When contacted by CBC for comment, the band declined to provide a statement.
Originating from Saguenay, Quebec, the duo formed in 2019 and gained recognition in the local underground music scene before releasing their debut album, “Vol. 1,” in 2024. Their breakthrough moment came with a live performance at the Festival Trans Musicales in Rennes, France, in December 2025, which garnered over 20 million views on YouTube. The release of their second album, “Vol. II,” in April received widespread acclaim, leading to sold-out tour tickets exceeding $500 and record-breaking attendance at music festivals. In a recent achievement, they secured the Polaris Album prize and the SOCAN Polaris Song Prize for their track “Fabienk.”
Drummer Klek expressed gratitude for the duo’s success, highlighting the serendipity of their journey in an interview with The Canadian Press. While the Party Expert costumes offer fans a chance to embody Angine de Poitrine’s distinctive look, some DIY enthusiasts have opted to create their own interpretations using everyday materials and artistic flair. Although the costumes come at a price, the allure of the band’s eccentricity may inspire fans to craft their unique versions.
